     William Stowell was born on 12 October 1694 in Hingham, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Samuel Stowell and Rachel Gill.1 He died on 20 April 1771 at age 76.1
     
     Administration was granted on the estate of William Stowell, late of Hingham, deceased, to Seth Briggs, of Pembroke, Plymouth County, and to Adam Stowell of Hingham, Suffolk County, on 26 April 1771.2 Inventory returned 20 December 1771, gives personal property £27.13.4 and real estate in Abington, Weymouth and Hingham £862.3 William divided his estate among six children of his sister Hannah (Stowell) Briggs and four children of his brother Samuel, one-tenth to each.3 He never married.1
