Family Background:
Fairfield and Allied Families
Abra Hayes was baptized on 9 June 1804 in Buxton, York County, Maine, by Rev. Dr. Paul Coffin of Buxton.2 She was the daughter of Deacon John Hayes and Sarah Alden King.1 She married George Freeman Hill, son of Elisha Hill and Charlotte Freeman, on 8 January 1832.3,4

Abra Hayes and George Freeman Hill moved in 1835 to Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, in the company of Abra's cousins, Asa, Oliver, and Charles Fairfield. Abra died within the year. (An article in the Maine Historical and Genealogical Recorder, entitled "David King of Saco," incorrectly states that it was George who died soon after the move).5
