Amos Evans
     Amos Simpson Evans was born on 16 May 1816 in Liberty township, Hillsboro, Highland County, Ohio.3,4,5 He married first Mary Poage.2 He married second Sarah Hayes Fairfield, daughter of Oliver Fairfield and Sarah Alden Hayes, on 11 February 1856.1 He died on 4 April 1897 in San Jose at age 80.6
     
     Amos Simpson Evans and Sarah Hayes Fairfield moved in 1860 to Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana.1 He retired from business on 1 January 1877 and they removed to San Jose, California, for its desirable climate.1
