     Jane Patten was born circa 1717, probably in Northern Ireland.4 She was the daughter of Matthew Patten and Margaret (—?—) (Patten).2,3 She and John Gray , son of Robert Gray, were married 28 July 1743 at First Congregational Church, Biddeford, York County, Maine, by Moses Morrill.5,6,2 She died in 1810.2
     
     Jane was named in her father's will of 31 August 1773: To his beloved daughter Jane, one-fifth of the Deerwander land and one-third of the land in Pepperellboro.7 Sisters Jane Gray, Susanna Patten and Lydia Patten, and brother Robert, sold portions of the Deerwander acreage. They began selling in Phillipsburg (now Dayton and Hollis) in 1799.8
