Della Fairfield
Susan Edella, called Adella, with emphasis on the A, by her father, and Della by everyone else, was a particular favorite of her half-sister Ruth, and Ruth's daughter, Ruth Anna. She left the farm as soon as she could and moved to Houston where she worked and went to business school. She was a bookeeper for Henke & Pealot's grocery stores for many years. Della and Preston had no children. She died of lung cancer in St. Louis where she had gone for treatment. Almost two years after her death, Preston married as her second husband, Della's half-sister, Ruth.
