     Samuel Stone was baptized 29: 7: 1666 (29 September 1666) in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts.2 He was the son of Nathaniel Stone and Remember Corning.1 He married Abiel Gaines, daughter of John Gaines and Mary Treadwell, of Ipswich, on 27 May 1690.3 He died on 14 October 1739 in Manchester, Massachusetts, at age 73.3 His estate was probated on 19 November 1739.3
     
     Samuel Stone was a cordwainer and lived in Manchester.3 He and Abiel had six children born between 1691/92 and 1712.4 His will dated 15 October 1739, an obvious error existing either in the date of the document or in the town records, leaves his property to his wife Abial, no mention by name being made of his children.5
