     McClellan Heminger was born on 10 September 1861 in Ohio.2,1 He was the son of Nathaniel Lafayette Heminger and Catharine Cordrey.1 He married Sarah Ann Jones on 27 December 1887.3
     
     McClellan Heminger was a schoolteacher from 1880 until 1901 when he established a real estate, insurance and loan company. He lost the business in 1934 and retired the following year. He served on the draft board in Akron, Ohio, and was chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals of Akron from 1922 until 1934. He and Sarah had eight children and lived in Sandyville (1888-1892), Strasburg (1892-1893), Canton (1893), Beach City (1893-1898), Clinton (1898-1901), Kenmore (1901-1909), and finally settled in Akron (1909).3
