Del Munson
Mordello Stephen Munson II was born on 22 February 1893 at the Van Place, north of Bailey's Prairie, Brazoria County, Texas.1 He was the son of George Caldwell Munson and Hannah Dyer Adriance. According to his World War I draft card, he was born on 25 February 1893 at Oyster Creek Station. The location is probably not a contradiction, as the Van Place was located between Oyster Creek and the Brazos River.2 He married Minnie Ella Moore on 3 January 1925 in Brazoria County, Texas.3 He died on 17 November 1960 in Angleton, Brazoria County, Texas, at age 67.1

Del was about four years old when the family moved from the "Van Place" to Angleton. He attended school in Angleton, and graduated from Angleton High School. After graduating from San Antonio Academy, he returned to live “at home” and work with his father at farming and ranching. After he and Minnie Ella married, they lived in Angleton with his parents for a short time, then moved to what the family called the “Ranch House” at Bailey's Prairie. It was destroyed in the '32 Storm, a small in area but deadly hurricane that is legendary among the old-timers in Brazoria County. They then moved to Angleton and stayed with Del's sister and brother-in-law, Lydia and Ralph Johnson, while they built a new home on “Munson Row,” at what is now 730 South Walker Street. After Del died in 1960, Minnie Ella continued to live there. Their daughter Sarah Moore inherited the house and she and her husband Jack Buice live there today (2007).4
