Mary Adelaide Crews was born circa 1880 in Texas.1 She married Milam Underwood Borden, son of Milam Borden and Ella Harriet Underwood, on 24 June 1901 in Brazoria County, Texas.2 She died on 29 June 1962 in Harris County, Texas.3 She was buried in Old Columbia Cemetery, West Columbia, Brazoria County, Texas.
Addie was quite a character. Ruth Anna Horn Munson tells a story of a visit she made with Laura Underwood to Cousin Addie's home when Ruth Anna's son Joe was a baby. Joe was Laura's first grandnephew, and she was anxious to show him off. Addie took one look at him and said. "Humph; the only things I like less than cats, are babies!" Addie outlived her husband, and though they are both buried in the Old Columbia Cemetery, their graves are not together. She said that she stood by him in life, but she wasn't about to lay with him through eternity.
