     Joseph Clement Richardson was born on 19 January 1774 in Johnston County, North Carolina.1 He was the son of William Richardson and Mildred Robertson.1 He married Martha Cobb, daughter of Captain Stephen Cobb and Patience (—?—) (Cobb), and widow of William Hackney; marriage bond dated 30 May 1798 in Johnston County, North Carolina.1 He died on 3 November 1840 in Johnston County, North Carolina, at age 66.1

Joseph Richardson was named executor in his father William Richardson's will dated 1 December 1818 in Johnston County, North Carolina.2

In his will of 1 May 1838, probated November Court 1840, Joseph Clement Richardson bequeathed to son Pharaoh (Lands on north side of Little River: All negros in his possession); Son Lunsford (All land on South side of the Little River with mill and 10 acres adjoining mill; Negro Hassell); Daughter Molly Hadly (Negro Toase, Sam and three last children; Winfred, Willias and Sam); Remaining negros divided between two sons and daughter, David R. Pender, living in South Carolina, and negro boy Dogrun; $300.00 cash; Remaining estate equally divided among above mentioned children. Executors-Pharoah and Lunsford Richardson, sons. Signed Joseph Richardson.3
