Joseph Cobb Jr. was probably born between 1705 and 1712.1 He was the son of Joseph Cobb and Susannah (—?—) (Cobb).1 He married Catherine Whitehead, daughter of Arthur Whitehead.1

"Joseph Cobb, Jr." was deeded land in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, by John Braswell and Alice his wife 20 November 1734.2
On 16 October 1739, Joseph Cobb Jr. witnessed a deed to land his brother Benjamin bought in the Precinct of Bertie, North Carolina.3 The following day, 17 October 1739, he witnessed a deed to land his brother Robert bought in Bertie County.4
By 1751 Joseph Cobb Jr. had moved to Southampton County, Virginia, for on 5 August 1751 Joseph Cobb Jr. sold to William Hatfield Sr. 150 acres at corner of William Gurley's land patented 23 November 1750.5 Also in 1751 Joseph Jr. and Catherine, his wife, sold to James Story 75 acres, part of a patent granted 9 August 1751.6
Mary Cobb brought suit, as an infant by Joseph Cobb her father and next friend, against Simon Woodward, 12 December 1760 in Southampton County, Virginia.7
In 1761 Joseph Cobb sold Robert Doughty 100 acres granted John Braswell 10 October 1720 (the same land that he had been deeded in Isle of Wight County in 1734).8
Joseph Cobb Jr. and his wife Catherine on 12 September 1765 sold 150 acres that had been granted to William Sellers 26 February 1733, and 50 acres, part of a 1751 patent to the said Joseph Cobb Jr.9 Also in 1767 Joseph Cobb and his wife Catherine of the Parish of St. Luke, Southampton County, Virginia, sold 350 acres, part of a patent to John Braswell in 1732.10
On 1 April 1767 Joseph Cobb Jr. sold to James Cooper part of a patent granted him 5 August 1751. The witnesses to this deed were William, Frederick and Pharaoh Cobb.11
In 1769 Joseph Cobb Sr. sold to Arthur Cobb part of the 1751 patent.12 The deed is not signed by his wife, so it may be that his wife Catherine was dead by 1769.
On 5 April 1771 Joseph Cobb sold Arthur Cobb 375 acres, part of a patent granted William Sellers in 1742.13 1771 is the last year that Joseph Cobb appears in the Southampton County records. He may have died, or he may have gone with his family to Tennessee.
