     Robert Cobb was probably born between 1705 and 1712.2 He was the son of Joseph Cobb and Susannah (—?—) (Cobb).2 He married Mary Deberry, daughter of John Deberry and Jane Sowerby.3,4,5 His will was probated in Northampton County, North Carolina, at the November Court 1767.6

On 17 October 1739, one day after his brother Benjamin was deeded land in Bertie County, North Carolina, Robert Cobb purchased from Nicholas Boon of Bertie County for 20 pounds, 16 acres which had been bought from William Bennet in 1723 on the south side of the Meherrin River on Nicholas Boon's line. Witnessed by Joseph Cobb Jr., Charles Anderson, Abraham Stevenson. His land fell in Northampton on the formation of that county in 1741.7

Benjamin Cobb of Northampton County, North Carolina, Planter to Stephen Cobb of same, for 50 lbs. current money of Virginia, tract of land on southside of Correroy Swamp, bought of Charles Anderson, also 100 acres bought of John Bryant. Witness: Mandice Daughtrie, Robert Cobb, August 1757.8

His will, dated 14 October 1765-October 1767 names wife Mary and John, Henry, and Peter DeBerry, and Abraham Stevenson, who were to divide certain of his property, and also mentions his children Stephen, Robert, Jesse, Absalom, Jane, Ella, Della or Bella, John, Priscilla, and Sarah.6,9
