     Rebecca Emery was born on 7 March 1697/98 in Berwick, York County, Maine.1,2 She was the daughter of James Emery and Margaret Hitchcock.1 She married first Capt. Daniel Smith of Biddeford, son of Nicholas Smith Jr. of Exeter.3 She married second Capt. Nathaniel Ladd.3 She died in 1786.2
     
Additional Data
"Madam Ladd," who had the care of her grandchildren Dominicus Jr. and Elizabeth Scammon, used to complain that Mr. Ladd gave all his negroes their freedom. "It was hard that she could not have one."2

Rebecca Emery was mentioned in her father James Emery's will dated 28 December 1724: "…to my daughter Rebecca twenty Shillings."1,4 Click to view image
