     Jonathan Stone was born on 28 February 1765.1,3 He was the son of Jonathan Stone and Phebe Downing.2 He married Margaret McCulloch, daughter of Adam McCulloch and Louisa Brown, on 23 November 1790 in Church of Christ, Arundel, York County, Maine.1,4,5 He and Margaret McCulloch were divorced.1 He married second Elizabeth Pickering of Newington, New Hampshire, on 29 October 1798.6 He died on 23 December 1816 at age 51.1,6
     
     Capt. Jonathan Stone was a mariner. On his gravestone is inscribed "A skillful navigator. An honest and industrious citizen." His wife Betsey, son Adam and daughter Olive survived him. His large estate included one-half of the brig June, 317 gallons of rum, shares in the Kennebunkport and Cumberland Banks, much silver, mahogany, Oriental and East Indian articles, etc. Cyrus K. Fairfield, his grandson, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was appointed administrator d. b. n. in 1886 to collect French spoilation claims.6

Jonathan Stone renewed the baptismal covenant and had his children, Adam and Olive, baptized on 17 September 1797 in Arundel, York County, Maine.8
