     Ivory Lord was born circa 1796.2,3 He was the son of Tobias Lord and Hepzibah Conant.2,3 He married Louisa McCulloch, daughter of Capt. Hugh McCulloch and Abial Perkins, on 23 June 1818 in Kennebunk, York County, Maine.2,3 He died in 1868.2,3
     
     Ivory's father moved to the Landing, where he erected a large three-story house and a good-sized store. Later it was occupied by Ivory and Louisa and the store was run by Ivory and his brother George. This co-partnership was started in 1817. The store offered a full assortment of the goods usually found in a country store. The giant open fireplace in the counting room of the store became the gathering place for seamen and ship carpenters.2
