     Michael Woodsum was born circa 1725/26.1 He was baptized on 16 April 1732 in First Church, Berwick, York County, Maine.2 He was the son of Joseph Woodsum and Abigail Abbot.2 He of Berwick married Elizabeth Dyer of Biddeford, daughter of William Dyer and Lucretia Emery, on 24 August 1749 in First Congregational Church, Biddeford, York County, Maine.3,1
     
     Michael Woodsum was of Berwick and moved to Saco or Biddeford when a young man.1 He moved to the wilderness of Narragansett, No. 1, now Buxton, in 1756 or 1757.1 He purchased lot 22, of range D, in the second division, on 18 September 1758, and probably settled there.1 At a proprietors' meeting held 16 November 1761, he was chosen on a committee to "open, clear, and exchange roads."1 In 1768, he drew lot No. 6, in range R. His farm was about one mile below Salmon Falls, on what was then known as "Woodsum's hill."1
