Family Background:
Underwood and Allied Families
Susanna Richardson was born circa 1676 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1 She was the daughter of Josiah Richardson and Remembrance Underwood.1 She married Captain Henry Farwell, son of Ensign Joseph Farwell and Hannah Learned, on 23 January 1695/96 in Chelmsford.2 It was told by her grandson that she was so afflicted by the sad death of her two sons and other troubles, that she became insane and went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Cummings, in Hollis, New Hampshire where she died and was buried.3

On 12 March 1695/96, the widow and children of Josiah Richardson, who died intestate 22 July 1695, entered an agreement for the division of the estate by which Sergeant William Fletcher, Thomas Colburne and Hennery Farwell, the husbands of the three daughters (Sara, Mary and Susanna) shared two-thirds of the movable estate.4
