Benjamin Butterfield was born in England. He married Ann or Anna in England. Ann, Benjamin's first wife, died 19 May 1661, and he married second at Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, on 3 June 1663, Hannah Chawkley Whittemore, widow of Thomas Whittemore.1 He died on 2 March 1687/88 in Chelmsford.2,3
Benjamin Butterfield was living at Charlestown, Massachusetts, in 1638.4 He was in Woburn in 1640, and his name appears there among the first town orders.4 He took the Freeman's Oath on 10 May 1643.5
