     Caleb Burbank was born 19: 3 mo: 1646 (19 May 1646) in Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of John Burbank and Jemima (—?—) (Burbank).1 He married Martha Smith, daughter of Hugh Smith and Mary (—?—) (Smith-Ellsworth), on 6 May 1669.2
     
     Caleb Burbank lived on the homestead in Rowley which was willed to him and his mother by his father. Apparently toward the end of his life, he had some sort of mental problem. His pastor, Rev. Samuel Phillips entered in the Rowley Church Records on 10 November 1689, "I have long considered Caleb Burbank crazed in his understanding which I am ye more confirmed in by what his mother lately related to me."3

Caleb and Martha Burbank were united with the church at Rowley in 1685.3

Caleb Burbank's will was proved 25 March 1690. In his will he mentions his "honored mother" as living, names his wife as executrix of his will, but does not mention the names of his children. His children were all minors at the time of his death.5
