Francis Littlefield Sr. was baptized on 17 June 1619 in Titchfield, Hampshire, England, "June. Baptized Francis Littlefeld the xvijth day."2,1 He was the son of Edmond Littlefield and Annis Austin.1 He married first Jane Hill at Woburn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1,3 He married second Rebecca in 1649.1 He married third Mary Wade Symonds of Ipswich, in 1689 at Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts.1 He died before 15 January 1712/13 when inventory of his estate was taken, probably in Wells, York County, Maine.1
Francis Littlefield Sr., so called because he had a younger brother of the same name, probably accompanied his father to New England prior to 1638, but moved around before settling in Wells where he was granted 50 acres by Gorges in 1643. He was taxed in Woburn 1646 and Dover 1648; was soon in Wells with his second wife, yet bought a house at Charlestown in 1653. He was a Representative from York in 1660, Wells 1665, 1676, 1681; grand jury 1666, 1667, 1673, 1687; County treasurer 1676, 1678, 1681; Selectman 1677. He was a licensed innholder many times between 1661 and 1691 at Wells, and afterward presumably at Ipswich, where he was an innholder 2 May 1700. He was licensed again at Wells in October 1700, 1701 and 1702, but was in Essex County in March 1701.3
