     Mary King was born on 14 December 1773.1,2 She was the daughter of David King and Elizabeth Gray.1 She was baptized on 29 May 1774 in First Congregational Church, Biddeford, York County, Maine, by Rev. Moses Morrill.3,4 She married William Fairfield, son of John Fairfield V and Mary Burbank, on 25 August 1790 at Biddeford.1,5,2 She died on 9 April 1851 at age 77 years, 3 months, 25 days.2 She was buried in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk, York County, Maine. Mary, "Wife of Wm Fairfield" renewed her baptismal covenant, 25 May 1794 at Church of Christ, Arundel, York County.6

Polly Fairfield was allowed a widow's pension under the Acts of 7 July 1838 and 3 March 1843 for William's service in the Revolutionary War. In her pension applications, she signed her name in a legible hand.7

Mary Fairfield appeared on the 1 June 1850 Federal Census of Kennebunkport, York County, Maine, in the household of Clement and Lucinda Perkins, her son-in-law and daughter.8 Click to view image

  2. [S723] Fairfield, Holy Bible, This bible was given to Ruth Anna (Horn) Munson by Anna Miriam (Fairfield) Pevoto. It was lost when the Munson home burned in 1972. However, the family information contained therein was carefully copied by Laura (Munson) Cooper some years prior to that time. The handwriting was imitated and the formatting preserved in the copy, and it is still in the possession of the writer. Unfortunately, the publication data was not understood at the time the copy was made to be important, so that is lost forever. Hereinafter cited as Fairfield Bible.
