Benjamin Butterfield was born in Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Nathaniel Butterfield and Deborah Underwood.1 He married Sarah Bates, daughter of John Bates and Mary Farwell, on 16 February 1697 in Chelmsford.2,3 He died on 24 July 1715 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.4
