     Dorcas Jane Ayres was born say 1785 in Maryland.1 She was the daughter of Moses Ayres Jr. and Dianna Kennedy.1 She married Nathan Cordrey, son of Thomas Cordrey Sr. and Comfort Bryan, on 24 July 1798 in Allegany County, Maryland.1,2,3 She died in 1863 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.1 She was buried in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas County.1
     
     In his journal, Francis Cordrey wrote an article about his grandmother.
