Benjamin Wilson Hall Thurber was born on 24 June 1800 in Herkimer County, New York, or New Hampshire.1,2 He was the son of Isaac Thurber and Drusilla Hicks.1 He married first Mary Persis King, daughter of Josiah King and Mary Woodsum.1 He was baptized in 1838.1 He married Mary Andrews on 14 August 1850 in Allen County, Indiana.3 He died before 1860.2
One of Benjamin's Fairfield granddaughters wrote in a letter to a sister that Benjamin was born in Herkimer County, New York. The 1850 census gives his birthplace as New Hampshire.4 He moved before 1825 to Ireland twp, Megantic County, Quebec.5 He moved to Allen County, Indiana, in the early 1840s.1
