Catharine Baughman was born circa 1777 in Pennsylvania.4,5 She was the daughter of Abraham Baughman and Mary Katharine Deeds.2,3 She married first Philip Black, son of Philip Black.1 She married second Henry Longabaugh on 19 April 1826 in Stark County, Ohio.6,1 She died on 26 August 1854 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.1 She was buried in "Neal grave yard in the S.E. corner of the N.E.¼ Sec. 15," Fairfield township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio.1
Catharine was of Pennsylvania German birth, and was brought up in the Dunkard faith, a Baptist denomination founded in 1708 by Americans of German descent who were opposed to military service and taking legal oaths. After the death of her second husband, Catharine's son-in-law, Moses Ayres Cordrey, built her a small house in his dooryard where she lived alone for some years until her death in 1854.1 In his journal , Francis Cordrey wrote about his grandmother.
